    Unhappy

Friday nite I went to the track hoping to run some kick ass times since the temp was around 60. I knew 228gsr (Frank) and a couple of his buddies were coming up here for Jim to work on his car so I got my bottle filled for the track. We hung out and the shop for awhile and then cruised to the track. I got there and let the car cool down while we bullshited. I went up and made my first pass and it was a 14.8. Through out the pass when I would change gears the rpm's would not drop down. It felt like the clutch is slipping. I assumed that's what it was since my clutch is almost gone it tends to slip when I spray. I didn't think anything of it. I went up for my second pass and the same thing happened. When I went up for my third pass the idle felt a little funny kinda like it was missing but it wasn't real bad so I ran. That pass was a 14.5 but I had the same slipping clutch feeling. A little while later I went for a fourth pass and while I was in the staging lanes I looked at Matt (roguesol) and told him that the idle really felt bad I needed to pull the plugs after this pass. I got about 3/4th's of the way down the track and I heard and felt something in the engine. I immediatly let off the gas and coasted. I walked it back to the pit area and popped the hood. Matt started looking and found that the vaccuum line on the fpr had blown off. I pulled my plugs and the plug from cylinder 1 is MELTED!!! I have Zex plugs and they have been great but the one thing that should not happen, happened. I leaned out and it completly killed the plug. I have metal welded to the plug and about a 1/4th of an inch of the ceramic is gone and what's left is melted. Saturday morning a compression check was done and I have no compression in #1. Lucky for me I have Jim and his partner Don to work on it. I won't know more until Wednesday. Hopefully it's not too bad.

That sucks. Make sure when you rebuild your engine that all of the lines that use don't have a clamp are zip-tied on.

    Sorry man.

This is a wake-up call for me, since I took the hose clamps off that vacuum line to make it easier to tune FP. I will re-install these ASAP.

    Good luck on the rebuild.

There was a Clamp on it.. The zex unit creates a wierd pressure in the line and causes it to blow off. Same thing happen to me and my motor went up in smoke just like that.

    Sucks ass.

Were you powershifting with the nitrous engaged, or was your throttle cable sticking?

Well I guess I have a qick project for tomorrow. Check all vacuum connections and clam down any that are not already clamped. I am really sorry to hear that but as you already know, you couldn't have found a better shop and tuner to rebuild with then Jim wink Lucky you (gotta look at the god in everything ya know smile)
